Piano Man

To my dismay Owen has learned how to open the piano. Which scares me to death cause I can see him shuting it on his little fingers. Etta suggested that I leave it open...which I would have no problem with except for the fact he has also learned to close it. So if anyone has any suggestions for baby profing a piano I'm all ears (that don't involve tape lol). Because once his figured out all the noises it can make he is all about it!!

OMG.....The Ball Pit

I was going to put the ball pit with the Christmas post but decided it is big enough to deserve its own post. My Dad's theme for Christmas presents this year was BIG. We all talked about wanting Owen to get a ball pit for Christmas. Our course Matt I and had in mind something much smaller than this (for in the house at least).

This ball pit is 6foot by 7foot, which in my opinion is huge. But of course Owen loves it. It is actually a ballpit/bouncer but Owen wont stand up in it yet. He actually is probably a little young for it, but that doesnt stop him for climbing in and out of it.

Christmas 09

Christmas this year was a lot more interesting than last year. The week of Christmas did not start well for us. We didn't have eletric for the whole weekend and didnt get it back till last Monday night. (cut alot into my cookie)

So thankfully Owen got to open his presents from us on Christmas eve at home. Matt and I had a great time watching him opening them. Although after awhile we had to fight to get his attention- it could have not been better.

Christmas Day Owen got to see his grandparents.

We had a great dinnner at Matt's moms house. It was nice that the kids got to play together and open thier presents. For those of you that don't know Adam's (matt's brother) girlfriend Chrissy has a daughter named Mia that is a month younger than Owen, that has became a part of the family.

Here is a lil video of Owen walking behind one of his toys. He will usually do this all the way across the living room and then we turn him around and he will come all the way back. For some reason he wanted to attack the camera more than to accually walk. We accually tried this like 5 times and this is the best one .

His New Face

OK so as far as we know neither of us done this as a baby, but Owen has a new face that he is using alot. The best way to describe this is he scrunches his face up as if he was mad then puckers his lips and starts blowing in and out real fast. its not like he does this only when he is mad or even when just playing. he uses this new face for about everything. Today Matt was feeding him breakfast and he was making it when he wanted another bite. Which we got on film for you all.

Owen is now wanting to ALWAYS eat whatever we are eating. So we decided it would be a good idea to let him feed himself some eggs and a biscuit. As you can see it wasn't, we had to give him a bath after breakfast but he loved it so it was worth it.

The last month has been a hard one with Owen. He has been really fussy and hard to please. We figured it was just colic and have been waiting for him to grow out of it. But the last week it seemed to be getting worse and he had been spitting up a whole lot more. The doctor said it was acid reflux and we need to start feeding him baby food. Cause the less he eats from the bottle the better. He is also taking Zantac now.

I could tell a difference the first time we gave him baby food. He was actually happy when he was finished and not screaming which is awesome. Owen even seemed to play more too. So I am looking up for the furture cause my baby is finally happy. YaYYYYYYYYY!!!!!

Owen is growing like a weed ...at 3 1/2 months old he weights 13lbs 14ozs.

Bobble Head

Owen has become a very demanding baby. He is what most people consider to be "spoiled". If Owen is not completely asleep it is impossible to lay him down without crying. He only last 15 minutes usually in his swing, bouncy sit or the floor before he is screaming wanting to be held. Fortunately he has been sleeping good at night though. That is of course if he falls asleep with mommy and daddy. Sometimes we are able to trick him and put him in his bed but this is not always successful. So we are able to get plenty of sleep but it seems like finding the time to do simple things during the day like eating has became a challenge LOL.

His new thing now is he wants to sit straight up at all times, even if you are holding him. The video was me using pillows to prop him up so he would be happy. He is a little shaky with his head so he looks like a bobble head doll.

Snowed In

Over the past few days we received over 6 inches of snow. When it first started to snow on Tuesday night it actually snowed so hard that it was snowing over an inch an hour. It was to cold to actually get Owen out in it so we just bundled him up and took his picture from the porch.

Owen had his first smile yesterday. Of course trying to catch the smile for a picture is very difficult. These are a couple of my attempts which I was not very successful with. The smiles just don't last long enough for me. And not to mention you have to work really hard to get it out of him. But words could not express the amount of joy I fell every time I see it.

Owen Update

I know it has been a bit seen I posted anything so I figured I would give everyone an update. Not alot of new things going on since my last post. Owen seems to be taking the new formula good. My only problem now is he is hungry all the time. He is eating more than he should for his age but we are trying some things to keep him full.

Owen is finally starting to enjoy bathtime. At least I hope he enjoys it since he stopped screaming during the whole thing. It seems like he is growing more and more. Everyday I am trying on new clothes on him to see what he has grown into. Also I should be getting his pictures Friday that we had done. So hopefuly soon I can mail some out to everyone.

Much ado about Poo

When Owen was first born he had trouble with pooing (spent extra days in the hospital). Then it was cause he wasn't going to the bathroom. The last couple of days it has been the opposite problem, he has been going too much. Of course me and Matt don't know anything about babies, we are learning as we go along. So we were having trouble deciding on what was too much poo and or if is was diarrhea. After changing weird poopy diapers ALL day yesterday and Owen wanting to eat every one to two hours, we figured there was a problem.

We took Owen to the doctor today. The doctor took an x-ray just to make sure there were no problems internal, but they were none. He said it had to be the formula , since Owen has still been gasy and spiting up with the soy formula. I guess he is just a very sensitive baby. So we had to change formulas Again. Hopefully this will fix all the problems he has been having and we can finally get some normal poo.

Even though I am very blessed in the breast category they just didn't want to produce after 3 weeks. Cause I think if he could stayed on just breast milk, he wouldn't be having all these problems.

Matt, Owen and Gizmo

Matt and I were really scared about bringing the new baby home with Gizmo. Since the last 4 years Gizmo has been our baby. But to our surprise Gizmo has been great with the baby. He doesn't get mad when we are holding him, he just wants to sit on our lap too LOL but isn't getting mad when we tell him no.

New Tub

Since Owen is not yet ready for the plunge in the tub yet. I thought the new tub I got him might be a little easier.....but I was wrong LOL. I love the tub but Owen doesn't. His belly button should be healed soon cause the doctor put some stuff on it at the appointment to make it dry up faster. So before to long maybe bath time will not be so stressful on Mommy.

Monday was Owen's 2nd Doctor's Appointment to check and make sure he was gaining enough weight. His weight is now 6lbs 4ozs. The doctor said everything is looking good. We are trying a new formula right now cause Owen has been spitting up ALOT. And the doctor wants us to feed him less more often and see if that helps too. I am still giving him breast milk too. He is getting about half of each at every feeding. I would love to just give him just breast milk but well I am kinda drying up. I can't figure it out either. Over a week ago I was getting enough to freeze the extra and now I am having to get the extra out of the freezer just to have enough. So soon he will just be getting formula. I feel really bad about it but at least he got the breast milk as long as he did. But I just hope he starts taking the formula better.

Dry Skin

Since Owen was born he has had really dry skin. In the hospital the nurses had put Vaseline on his hands and feet cause they were so bad that his skin was cracking. Since we have been home his hands and feet are not as bad as they were at birth but his skin is still so dry. Seems like I am putting baby lotion on him all day and it is just not getting better and now it is his entire body that is dry. I don't know if it is just a new baby thing or a winter thing. I figured I would make a post to ask everyone for suggestions.

Owen is doing something funny with his month in the picture and we really don't like them. Help from Daddy

This is a picture of Owen sleeping good for the first time today, around 3pm(Which didnt last 30 mins). I don't know if he is going through a growth spurt or if it is from the breast milk, but Owen has not really slept all day or last night for more than hour. So I had a very long night, at 5am I was begging Matt to get and help me lol. Matt was nice enough to feed him then and let me get a little more sleep.

With the feeding and pumping it seems to take a long time for me to feed him but of course it is all worth it. It is alot easier when Matt is here to help which he is quick to do.

Another thing I learn is just like when you are pregnant it is important to eat and get your protein. Which yesterday I didn't really do. It was my own fault I got busy cleaning and trying to get stuff done around the house and kinda forgot. Which is probably why I go sooo tired for all the night feedings. So today I am trying to make sure to eat every time I get hungry LOL. I am sure it will just take time for me and Owen to get a routine and use to doing everything. And thankfully I have the help of Matt. He fell back to sleep with me this morning and missed school to help me out since he knew how tired I was. We understand it is something we can't make a habit of because he needs to finish but I was so thankful for the help today.

Santa

While we were out Monday we decided to get Owen's first picture with Santa. We had it done at the Williamson Mall. The picture is not the greatest, we still might go to Charleston and have it done with the pretty Santa. That is if Matt can talk me into it LOL.

Visit to Grandma's house

Monday Matt and I had a couple of things we needed to get done (shopping lol). So we decided to go to Opal's house and let Owen spend a couple of hours with her. Opal was nice enough to give me and Matt a couple hours to run around, although I don't think she minded at all LOL.

The visit went really good, Owen and Grandma had a fun diaper change- the joys of a baby boy.

Christmas Spirit

Thanks to my Wonderful husband I finally have all my decorations out. I just did not have the motivation to start on anything for Christmas. But the last couple of days every time I would take a nap, Matt had done a little more. Usually I have to make Matt help with the tree and he hates it cause I am soo picky about everything. But to my surprise Matt was all about it this year. He even put on all the lights himself and we did the ornaments together. Now that everything is finally out, it actually feels like Christmas.

Dr. Visit

Dr. Aboujaoude which was my doctor and Owen

I really loved my doctor during my pregnancy. I felt like he really took care of me and Owen. Sometimes it seemed he might have been over treating me but it is ok cause I have a healthy baby boy. Dr. Aboujaoude told me and Matt today that we should start trying for another baby in a year LOL. It was kinda sad that I will only see him one more for time for awhile. Since the last couple of months I have seen the doctor more than I have saw some family members. He is really down to earth and makes you feel like he cares about you, unlike most doctors. And not to mention he is a awesome doctor you cant even see a scar from my C-section.

Owen also saw his doctor today, Dr. Fite. His weight was 5 5oz. So he has gain 2 ozs since he left the hospital. Dr Fite said everything seemed really good and we go back in a week to make sure that Owen is still gaining weight. Me and Matt really like Owen's doctor as well. Its really nice since Dr. Fite is only 31 and he is actually originally from this area.

First Adventure Outdoors

Well today I had to go to the WIC Office to get my new breast pump. Me and Matt decided to take the whole family. Even though we were only gone a couple of hours it was a new experence with the baby with us. The weather was rainy and cold which made me second guess taking Owen outdoors. But I know I can't keep him inside all the time like I would like to LOL. Owen slept the whole time so I guess it was no big deal to him. Tomorrow will be even more interesting because both me and Owen have Dr. appointments. But I am sure it will be fine.

Me and Matt had been avoiding the first bath. But I decided that today had to be the day. I didnt relize how much Owen was going to hate it. Even though me and Matt had read in my book how to give a new born a bath we were still winging it LOL. As you can see in the video Owen is not very happy and screamed so much that he turned blood red.

Finally Home

We got released about 10:00 am Monday morning from the hospital. I couldn't wait to finally get to come home. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of Owen in his car seat for the first time cause Matt already had the camera packed and in the car. I guess we were kinda in a hurry to get out of there. The ride home didn't take as long as I thought it would with Matt driving, it was snowing but nothing bad at all. It seemed like I was busy the whole day trying to get stuff done around the house since I hadn't been home in awhile. The day went great, had a couple visitors. The nicest part was everyone finally got to sleep in their own beds and not a hospital bed LOL.

Never ending Hospital stay

Since October 31 I had been in the hospital 19 days. So I was completely ready to finally get to come home. Owen had to stay in the hospital 3 extra days. He was slow at learning how to eat and it didn't help that he hates formula. And since he wasn't eating alot it was taking him awhile to go to the bathroom. On Wednesday the Dr said that if he wouldn't take the whole feeding he would have to place a tube down his nose. The picture above looks worse than what it really was. I hate that he had to get it but it helped him get the energy he needed to start eating on his own. On Saturday he started eating really good on his own so the Dr said Sunday he would probably get the tube out. But Saturday night Owen decided it was time to have it out, and pulled it out his self. Thank God he was with the nurses then cause it would probably have scared me to death. The nurse knew the Dr was probably going to be taking it out so she was nice enough to leave it out for us.

Welcome Owen Xavier

Owen was born at 8:03am on November 25,2008 by C Section. The C Section was very interesting to go through but over all no problems.

My Dad and Matt's mom and dad were all there waiting upstairs. When the nurse brought Owen upstairs she saw them waiting in the waiting room and let them all see him. It was a couple of hours before Owen was brought to my room and it seemed forever. The picture above was the first time I got to hold him.

As I am sure everyone knows I havent really ever been around babys but it is surprising when it is your own how it seems natural.
